Speaking of music videos, Jack Diablo and EU presents Jacksonville Music Video Revival, a calling for videos. "The JMVR began last year as a pet project of Jack Diablo and EU Jacksonville with the intended purpose of showcasing local filmmaking and musical talent and the hopes of stimulating a "revival" of the art from here in Jacksonville. Many music videos have been made since then and we are pleased to offer an outlet for them to be seen by the public.". Read this post for more info and how to get involved. www.mizunousa.com created an ad about running featuring music from local band Crash the Satellites, directed by Patrick Barry. It was pretty cool and a great choice of song. I tried to name the recognizable places the runner, Rick Patterson, was at in Jacksonville. By the way Rick, your arms will get too warn out running that way.
Terriblerentersinjax.com continues posting and I got to say it's sort of my guilty pleasure. It's enticing like reality TV in the way that you get to hear some dirt at the expense of someone else, whether warranted or not. It's drawn controversy for posting such raw info on bad renters, including pictures of them and the damages they've caused. They have taken criticism that they're being one sided, but it's more of a place for these landlords to blow off some steam from cases that ended unsatisfactorily. A place for renters to blow off steam has been a suggestion and bringing this resulting post.
Not too long after the new local bicycling advocacy group; The Jacksonville Bicycle Coalition. site went live came a stream of posts about bike riders being struck by vehicles. Some being hit and runs and most leaving the rider seriously injured. This post highlights some of these recent incidences. "Words That Make Your Heart Tingle", a post on Jax Underbelly blog about feedback from fans concerning the former venue Underbelly's in five points. Who knew it meant this much. Well, lets get Underbelly 2 going!!
Birdie, the creator of some local web comics we love at JaxScene is taking a break, or even a farewell, not too long after a revamping of his comic Frog VS Toad. I enjoyed the new look of the characters and hopefully he will get back into it. But everyone's got to stop and refocus. We know this all to well.

LaMars' Luminaire: This is the first of the coming weekly exposé by new contributor and local DJ La Mars about the artists he spins. DJ La Mars has a history of playing Country and Blues, Gospel, Rockabilly, R&R, R&B, Soul, Funk, Afro-beat, 60's Pop/Garage, Exotica, Latin, Punk, Indie, Rap, Hip Hop, at various places around town.

The sheep-coat of change wasn't quarantined from this nation's invasive behemoth called rhythm and blues. The decibels of this new symmetry crawled out of the womb of the Big Band and Jump Blues texture. Dave Bartholomew was a forensic conquistador in extrapolating and developing the "New Orleans Sound" from the cells and amoebas of it's soulful predecessors.

Dave was born on December 24, 1920 in Edgar, Louisiana. First melding with the tuba, he later transitioned to the trumpet as his primary dagger. As a fourteen year old, he played throughout the south in a band aboard a Mississippi Riverboat. His prodigal sorcery quickly brought him band leader status. He also had a stint with the renowned Jimmy Lunceford Orchestra, before joining the army during tumultuous WWII. As a conduit of escapism, he began to tangle with the craft of writing and arranging. He organized his own tribe of musicians, who enamored business maven Lew Chudd of Imperial Records.

After signing to Imperial, the mystic vapor of time and circumstance brought Dave together with the Delta area troubadour Antione "Fats" Domino. Their relationship spawned the mammoth hits "Ain't That A Shame", "I'm In Love Again", "Blue Monday", I'm Walkin'", and "Valley of Tears". Dave Bartholomew is the professor responsible in concocting epic joints for Lloyd Price, Smiley Lewis, Shirley & Lee, Earl King, Robert Parker, Frankie Ford, and Chris Kenner(just to name a few).

Dave recorded his one R&B hit "Country Boy" in 1950, which went to #14 nationally. His song "Good Jax Boogie" is Dave's homage to one of his favorite beverages, which was incepted at Jax Brewing Company in Jacksonville, Florida in 1912. Thus instituting additional mortar from Jacksonville in rock and soul's architecture. Dave Bartholomew was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for his role in producing early R&B ambrosia! He still performs and releases music to this day.

Jaxscene Tumblr Reboot

In the past I've loved the 50+ photos submitted to our Tumblr feed, live from people hanging out and around the scene. In it's popular days we saw on the moment live shows, obscure hangouts, traffic accidents, cool street art, personal blurbs from some of our fans, and event breaking news. And it got interesting what else we got because it's totally anonymous and anyone can post. The only reason such a neat idea fell out, was that it was spammed constantly by bots. Because to submit to our Tumblr live on the spot, you would send it to our email listed in plain text on the right side of our Tumblr page, which was easily read by spam bots.
Not realizing that having the email listed as a image would stop this, I regenerated an email and again listed it as text. I eventually gave up and buried it.

Now this time, it's back up and the email is a image. All posts will be moderated for nudity or obviously abusive posts. So now it's over to you. Post what's going on. It can be text, photo, even video. Posts will be live right on the column to the right on this site.

I, at some point, want to start a barter fair in riverside, where with no entry fee you can register to display your items for trade only. Goers can brink some items in their bag to trade around the site. The idea being that ultimately items will recycle cutting down on waste and even small things of value, to you, could be more to someone else. So everyone's happy. If you like to game that system, you can. Start with a framed photo you took, leave with a guitar. I haven't been motivated enough to try this yet, party because I don't know if taxes will mess me up, or when I could afford to pay any permits if needed. I would need some education and help.

For now I created THIS FACEBOOK GROUP to trade with neighbors in the areas of Riverside and Avondale, with an OK for some places close enough. being that it's online you can buy and sell as well. Good day, David W. here. As you may see there are large gaps to no posts of things to do as well as photo posts. This is because I suck bawls and I think Tom P. is over it once again, and I can't blame him. It's all hand coded and I'm sure he thought I would have the more automated system done by now. Which was starting to require a coding level I'm not familiar with. I will need some more time and help for that. As for the regular hand written things to do, it may just be on primary days plus recommended events and fliers.

I really wanted this to work out, I wanted to keep this going. But I can also say that there are at least 5 people who said they want to contribute and never did. That's getting old fast. Maybe it's because there's not actually anything going on anymore. I did see a fire show that melted my face though, and no one took pictures.
