Al Letson's State of the Re:Union Party 6/19

State of the Re:Union Premiere Party at WJCT Studios, Friday, June 19 at 6:30pm. Tickets are $10, and can be purchased by calling (904) 358-6326 or by visiting www.wjct.org.

WJCT proudly presents the State of the Re:Union Hometown Premiere event on June 19, 2009 at WJCT Studios in Jacksonville, Florida. This special, multimedia version of the new public radio show, State of the Re:Union, will be hosted by its creator – Jacksonville artist, Al Letson – and winner of the Public Radio Talent Quest. Letson will present the recent episode about Jacksonville and will discuss the show live with community members featured in the recent episode – “Jacksonville: Bold New City of the South?”

Music and stylish presentation will heighten the drama and embrace the full impact of each story being told about Jacksonville, as viewers will be guided through the program by the soulful eloquence of Letson's narrative, his interjections of spoken word and unobtrusive interview style. Individuals from the various organizations featured in "Jacksonville: Bold New City of the South?" will be present, providing even more depth and insight into the Jacksonville episode.

Things to do: Weekend Family Edition

The three day Memorial weekend messed me up. I didn't realize until Tuesday that I missed posting Family Edition, and then the week was going by too fast for me to catch up. Sorry, moms and dads. I'll get back on track for Monday morning. In the meantime though, here is a little weekend version because there are some really good things going on today.

Saturday Surprise: Gardening with Trad's Garden Center. May 30 @ 2pm. Kids ages 6-12.
French Storytime: with Ms. Marie. May 30 @ 4pm. All ages welcome, but it is geared towards kids 4-6 years old.

WJCT ANNUAL READING CELEBRATION - SHARE A STORY. May 30, 10am-1pm. "Authors, artists and other community members will share stories with adults and children of all ages. The event will recognize the children who have accomplished the challenge of reading 25 books or more during the school year, and will launch the Library’s summer reading program."

DINO-ROAR EXHIBIT @ MOSH Now open.
Also! Register now for DOZING WITH THE DINOS PUBLIC CAMP-IN, which will take place July 18. "Spend a night at the museum this summer and sleep under the dinos. Campers will enjoy an Extreme Science show, taste Liquid Nitrogen Ice Cream, rock out to a Dino-Rock Cosmic Concert, and more. But beware- dinos snore!"
